Advantage : The product relatively deep black levels, accurate in bright areas, solids dejudder development in standard mode controls numerous photos, many with four HDMI, two component video inputs and a PC. The image quality worthy of entry-level Sony 120Hz LCD with actually a very good value.
Disadvantage : Dark areas tinged bluish; must engage dejudder to enable antiblur; pedestrian design; less uniform screen.
Sony’s LCD HDTVs includes a range of many high-end models, but the KDL-V5100 is not among them. This series is cheaper than the Sony LCD HDTV in 2009 to include 120Hz frs, and lack of extras and interactive design complexity of his brothers step-up. This includes almost all controls associated with the image of these models, however, and its overall image quality is equally good. Of course, you'll still pay the premium brands to negotiate, but the solid performance and well balanced, the main features of the KDL-V5100 series to one of the most interesting values of Sony.

Design

Judge by the aspect of the KDL-46V5100 series, Sony does not give as much commitment to the outward appearance of its entry-level HDTV as it does to its high-end line, like the KDL-XBR9 series. The KDL-46V5100 has a relatively stocky, square, glossy black around the screen, below is a black stripe that fades to a mirror finish, which provides a slight accent. The area below the display is further enlarged by the speaker horizontal bar with a matte black - contrary to popular speakers hidden on many other HDTVs. Sony included a match, the black square to stand, but not pivot.
In fact, we prefer the KDL-46V5100 for the smaller buttons on the remote control clicker included on many higher-end models from Sony. The middle slide is very important and surrounded by four buttons that are difficult to confuse - one of which is the important key to control of display format. A group of buttons at the top of the remote can control other equipment which is compatible with HDMI-CEC system control-HDMI scheme, but the remote can control other devices via infrared.

SonyLCDHDTVreview.blogspot.46v5100.2

The menu system is also a refreshing, relatively simple society PS3 crossbar based media. All major categories, between image installation are arranged at the extreme left and remain visible no matter where you are on the menu. Nesting multiple menus is minimized happy, multi-selections on the screen simultaneously. We also appreciated the one-line description of menu functions other than those separated in the Tools menu, with easy access to frequently used items (even if the Motionflow control is unfortunately absent). On the other hand, the bookmarks bar for quick access to an entry last use input, the content channel or USB, it seems strange.

Features

As a cheaper Product line of Sony LCD HDTV, the 46V5100 series is free interactive gadgets available on the company step-up from the W5100 series. The W5100 with the main add-in is 120Hz processing, which provides better resolution of movement (aka less blur) when you starting setting dejudder Motionflow systems. Unlike Samsung and Toshiba systems, video processing, Sony can not be allow you obtained the effects antiblurring without dejudder setup. Check-out performance for more details.
Other controls are relatively large files to an entry-level model. Sony offers three ways to adjust the overall image and a fourth, called Custom, which is independent per input. A Theater menu on the remote puts the TV in the world cinema preset. In addition to the three color temperature settings, using all the white balance controls are available to customize the shades of grayscale.More advanced settings include various game modes and disable video processing, with extras such as Live Color doubtful, White and Clear Advanced Contrast Enhancer that we left for our consideration.

SonyLCDHDTVreview.blogspot.46v5100.3

Regarding other features, the KDL-46V5100 offers four aspect ratio selections, including one called full pixel whose sources properly scales from 1080i and 1080p to fill the screen. Lack extras like picture in picture(PIP), but we made the screen as a practical support for the product, which includes phone numbers for customer service from Sony. We lost a one-touch power saving mode to reduce energy consumption. The menu includes an echo on / off / auto switch for the backlight, and a light sensor room setting. The OFF option is useful for people who just want the TV sound without a picture, and its use reduces the electrical power of 30 watts (half a standard bulb).
Connectivity on the KDL-46V5100 series is solid, if somewhat "unique". Sony has decided to put three of the four HDMI inputs - a very healthy - on the side rather than on the back. This makes it easy temporary connections, but the flip side, some users may be less comfortable with the wire left the party instead of the back. Sony has side panels that bay to accommodate all but the largest cable, though.

SonyLCDHDTVreview.blogspot.52v5100.1

not HDMI on the back include two component video and RF antenna or cable, and analog and digital audio. This versatile side panel has a PC input (1920 x1 0080 pixels resolution), a USB port for photos and music and an AV input S-video and composite.

Performance

Relatively entry-level of Sony KDL-46V5100 series exhibited a very good image quality for the price, and and somehow beat the defending much more expensive, even if operating at full load, KDL-XBR9 series (in fact, two received the same score in this sub). We appreciated its relatively deep black levels and accurate colors in light areas, but wished for better color accuracy in dark scenes and better uniformity across the screen. Sony is also far in its implementation of Samsung’s dejudder .
Adjusting the Sony KDL-46V5100 for best picture quality in our dark room at means a startup in Cinema mode, also accessible by pressing the theater menu. This method has come close to our ideal for calibration, although we have had to disable some picture editing to reduce the production of light for our nominal level of 40 FTL and make a few reddish of grayscale nearly to the standard. Finally, the adjustments were largely successful, although the grayscale too varied (in dark blue stain). Range in the solid state at 2.25 against the ideal of 2.2.

Black level: The KDL-46V5100 has been solid for an LCD in this class, but could not compete with most other displays in our comparison. In dark scenes, like the warehouse in Chapter 5, where Lawrence Fishburne work on cheater, black and almost-black as the letterbox above and below the image, the pillars in the foreground and background indentations appeared brighter and less realistic than the Samsung LNB750, JVC and plasma, and only a bit brighter than the KDL-XBR9 - even though like to the Samsung LNB650. Shadow detail, from material along the edges of the room to the stubble on the shady side of the Fishburne’s face, was pretty good.

Color accuracy: in the bright scene KDK-46V5100 obtained good results in this category, thanks to its grayscale and accurate primary and secondary colors. The face of Kate Bosworth in the hotel on moring in chapter 8, for example, have shown the naturally skin, without the light green that we saw on KDL-XBR9 and Panasonic plasma. The headboard red, green plants and leaves of gold was also very close to the color of our reference screen, although the sky shots looked a little too blue compared side-by-Side - perhaps a less specific symptom of Sony’s cyan. aggregate saturation has been in the media, and do not exactly match the punch of more expensive models.

Video processing: As we said you must agree dejudder MotionFlow mode the KDL-46V5100 to get the benefits antiblurring its refresh rate of 120 Hz, but ensures that the usual effect on based films sources like "21 "makes them look more similar videos. We compared the standard mode of Sony, the least controversial of these two setup Motionflow our eye on the Samsung against Standard, like the past we loved the Sony's Standard better. A crane shot of the pedestrian bridge and in Chapter 6, for example, generally seemed too smooth on the Samsung than the Sony (and elsewhere on KDL-XBR9 smoother than on the KDL-V5100). That said, the "beauty" of dejudder is certainly in the eye of the beholder, and we prefer Samsung complete, because it allows you to customize much more than simple two-setup from Sony.
Our preference was to leave dejudder Off to the movies, and we appreciated the fact that when we are assured that the KDL-46V5100 well run 1080p/24 sources. Our test of choice in this capacity, the shot moving over the deck of the Intrepid from "I Am Legend",revealed that Sony kept the pace of the film appropriately, while the Panasonic and JVC, for example, presented Motion coupling characteristic 2: 3 down.

SonyLCDHDTVreview.blogspot.46v5100.1

The KDL-46V5100, but not enough to resolve every detail of 1080i and 1080p still of resolution sources, not the height of vertical resolution a bit of format according to our test models. And it not conflict 1080i video sources function properly, but not with a film based sources whatever approach we have chosen CineMotion. Proposed Motion resolution was normal for an LCD 120 Hz: 500-600 lines with dejudder committed (Motionflow set to medium or high), which fell to 300-400 lines with it turned off. As usual, we found it difficult to identify the effects of these characteristics of resolution when watching normal program material - in fact, the Sony 1080p look as sharp as other 1080p screens and 720p Panasonic plasma X1during "21."

Uniformity: The KDL-V5100 has been slower, even through the screen we would see, and outlines the general uniformity worse than most other LCD display, we except KDL-XBR9, which was about its similar. The side appeared brighter than the rest of the screen, and top left is even lighting, especially in black and very dark scenes, such as dark warehouse. Viewed from the angle of the screen faded to about average compared to other LCDs, and there was no discoloration evident that we have seen the JVC.

Standard Definition: The KDL-46V5100 transformed into an average performance in standard definition. The Sony resolved every detail of a DVD source and details of the grass and stone bridge appears as strong as we expected. With video sources function that we saw more jagged edges on motion diagonal lines than other screens, but not as much as KDL-XBR9 -- Although the American flag waving seemed about the same on both screens for Sony. The KDL-46V5100s noise reduction very good results, clean snow, noisy shots of sky and sunsets with aplomb, Although the option of MPEG noise reduction does not appear to do much in these areas. setup in CineMotion Auto1 committed 2:3pull down to remove moire forums.

Cons : the color shades of blue(shadows detail), you must activate to begin dejudder antiblur, common design and same display all V5100 series.

Product Introduce

We conducted a practical assessment 52-inch LCD HDTV of Sony KDL-52V5100, but this view also applies to other dimensions of the series, including 40-inch KDL-40V5100, 46-inch KDL-46V5100 and the 55 - inch KDL-55V5100. All four have the same specifications and be of very similar image quality.
Sony develop LCD HDTV series includes a wide range of high-end models, but the KDL-V5100 is not in the middle of them. This Sony is the cheapest 2009 series LCD HDTV models with 120Hz processing, and needed more interactive tools and designing complications of  its step-up all series. It contains nearly controls related to the image of these series, but its image quality is just as well. Sure, you can always spend a great quality to deal brand, but the high quality and balanced variety of attributes, the main features of the KDL-V5100 series one of Sony's well worth engaging.

Design.

Consideration of The KDL-V5100 series, Sony has not been much effort to highlight the issue outside of this function on TV as he does with top models like the other line, such as series of KDL-XBR9. The KDL-V5100 is quite Buxon, shiny black bezel around the screen, below a black stripe that goes into a mirror, fiddling with the volume. Field below the display is thicker than the horizontal loudspeaker with a black opaque material bar--contrary to popular speaker hidden on many other HDTVs. Sony includes a line, black square base, but can not pivot.
I prefer the KDL-V5100 remote to many small models button clicker on Sony premium series. The cursor is in sight, and surrounded by four buttons that are difficult to confuse - one of which is the most important button for large setup. A group of buttons at the top of the remote can control other equipment which is compatible with HDMI-CEC control system over HDMI system, but the remote can not control other devices via infrared.
The menu system is also a refreshing, relatively simple business comparison to the company’s PS3 crossbar based media. All main categories, between image setting are arranged to the away left and remain visible no matter where you are on the menu. Nesting multiple menus is minimized happy, multi-selections on the screen simultaneously. We also liked the one-line description for the menu of different functions and separate the Tools menu with easy access to frequently used items (even if the Motionflow control is unfortunately absent). On the other hand, the bookmarks bar for quick access to an entry last use, the content channel or USB, it seems strange.

Features

As one of the cheapest LCD HDTVs products, The Sony Bravia KDL-V5100 series is devoid of the interactive gadget accessible on the company’s step-up series begin with the W5100 series. Highlights of the KDL-V5100 is the processing in 120 Hz systems, which allows the resolution movement has developed (or less fuzzy). When you enable the functionality of Sony’s Motion Flow option. not like Samsung and Toshiba in the video system, Sony can not allow you get the antiblurring  functionality without dejudder.
Other setting of the image are large enough for this series. Sony has three ways to control the image around the world and the fourth custom, which depend on each input. A key to the Theatre of the remote puts the TV in the world cinema preset. In addition, three color temperature settings, the control of white balance has been fully available to help users setting levels of gray color. More advanced options include a gamma scale and Game option to disable video processing, as well as extras such as live color, Clear White and Advanced Contrast Enhancer(ACE) that we left to our discretion.
We lost a one-touch power saving mode to reduce energy consumption. The menu includes on / off / auto switch for the backlight, and a light sensor control room. The OFF option is convenient for users who just want the TV sound without a picture, and it reduces the power draw about 30 watts (half of a standard bulb).
Connectivity on the KDL-V5100 series is solid, if somewhat "unique". Sony has decided to put three of the four HDMI inputs - a very healthy number- on the side rather than on the back. This makes it easy temporary connections, but the flip side, some users may be less comfortable with the wires left from the side panel instead of the back. Sony has insertion side panels to accommodate all but the largest cable, though.

without HDMI connector on the back include two component video and RF antenna or cable, and analog and digital audio out-puts. This versatile side panel has a PC input (1,920 x1,080 pixels), a USB port for photos and music and an AV input S-video and composite.

Performance.

The Sony KDL-V5100 series provided a very good image quality for the price, and somehow best the company’s significantly more expensive, even if KDL-XBR9 model operating at full load, (In fact, both received the same score in this sub). We praise it equation deep black levels and accurate colors in bright areas, but wished for better color accuracy in dark scenes and better uniformity across the screen. Sony is also far in its implementation of dejudder Samsung.

Color accuracy: in the brilliant scene in the KDL-V5100 obtained good results in this category, thanks to its correct grayscale and primary and secondary colors. The face of Kate Bosworth in the hotel room the morning light in Chapter 8, for example, showed the natural complexion, without the green light. SonyLCDHDTVreview.blogspot.52v5100.2

Video processing : As we have said is necessary to engage in ways dejudder MotionFlow of the KDL-V5100 to get the benefits antiblurring its refresh rate of 120 Hz, but in doing so, the usual effect on the sources based Films like "21" makes them more similar videos. We compared the standard mode of Sony, the least controversial of these two setup Motionflow our eye on the Samsung against Standard, and like in the past we loved the Sony's Standard better.

Our test of choice in this capacity, it is under the deck of the Intrepid from "I Am Legend", Sony has revealed that the pace of the film properly preserved, while the Panasonic and JVC, for example, has developed the characteristic movement of coupling 2:03 down. The V5100 but not enough to resolve every detail of 1080i and 1080p sources yet, not the height of the vertical resolution of the slightly according to our test patterns. And from the 1080i video sources correctly, but not with film based sources CineMotion what approach we have chosen. Introduce.

Once considered a manufacturer of electronic products leading in all, Sony is still a big fish in a much larger pond. The company continues to produce high quality products in the industry, and its latest generation of HDTV is no exception. At $ 2,799.99 52-inch Sony Bravia KDL-HDTV 52NX800 edge-lit LED baded LCD may seem expensive for a non-3D HDTV and its image quality is not perfect, but a sleek design and thoughtful features such as integrated cable management and Wi-Fi, could also contribute to this series to justify its price.
Not too long, LED backlighting is a feature some a premium LCD HDTV series. Now you can find anywhere, including six series of Sony BRAVIA LCD HDTV programming in 2010. The first three of the LX900, HX900, HX800 and series or 3D measurement of the box (the XBR LX900) and 3D ready. Another step in the new line is the series Sony BRAVIA NX800. 2D in the nucleus, these 60 -, 52 - and 46-inch models use LED lighting board. The LEDs are positioned behind the frame of the series, usually on the sides. Speakers then light to provide (theoretically) uniform lighting on the back screen. This is different backlight LED full, which organizes the LEDs in a large number of clusters behind the screen. LED edge lights requires fewer LEDs , use consume less energy, and makes possible great production of very thin. Although some local dimming sets LED backlight, LED lighting device  set does not.

Brilliant Design

The appearance ultrasleek KDL-NX800 as a flat sheet black when turned off, dominated by a single pane of glass that extends almost to the edge of the panel on all sides. A piece of black metal edges of the glass panel, and when viewed from the side or top, black brushed metal brushed silver complement the subtle support low profile. Behind glass, relatively thick edge around the screen is almost black widescreen, promoting the illusion that the TV is unique. The logos and indicators are extremely thin, at least until the word Sony fires when the TV is on - the light can be disabled in order to promote an integrated view of the screen.
Sony has also paid attention to how the rear and side of the monolith appears. TV toothed profile measures 2.5 inches deep the thickest on the bottom, which reduces to an inch on the top thinner. The company glossed the black rearside, and hid the input connectors on the back behind a removable plate. You can then channel cables down into the base, along with the power cord - even if the space is a bit close to the thickness. Speaking of the position, finally Sony has added a pivot, which the company has never added to an LCD TV. In addition to the pivot, the TV, strangely, may be tilted slightly - if you want to mount the NX800 on the ground, perhaps?

sonylcdhdtvreview.blogspot.kdl52NX

Sony has also given the TV remote control is a major transformation. And "one of the best remote we've ever used, apart from the odd dual power button on the back that made us turn off the TV once. The company has maintained the excellent layout of buttons on the remote control last year, maintaining the logic of investment and differentiation. However, the keys this year are more flush and elegant, enhanced emergency response - now emit a satisfying click softly. The remote is curved along its entire length that seems to send the Home button on your thumb and the middle of the cursor control naturally. Completing the package, Sony added blue backlighting and the ability of CAP to control other devices via infrared or HDMI.

Picture Quality

The KDL-52NX800 includes 12 picture modes, but I only used the custom mode. Besides all the usual controls, the set includes an Advanced Settings menu (not available in all modes). This option allows you to make additional adjustments, including adjustment of white balance for the calibration setting the gray scale. Out of the box, the warm 2 setting the color temperature the more accurate of the four setup. The Black Corrector control has not done much. The Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) appeared to lower setup the black level subjective, but also produced a series of strange static gamma curves. The visible effect of this gamma range was surprisingly delicate. (Remember, we can measure the static gamma and dynamic control by ACE). However, this control crushed shadow detail in dark scenes as well. Ultimately, I disabled all the controls in the advanced settings menu, with the exception of white balance, I adjusted during calibration, and Gamma, I left the default setting zero.
The KDL-52NX800 operates at a refresh rate of 240 Hz, Motionflow 240Hz Sony is going to function to reduce motion blur, and has three option (OFF, low, high). If you select Motionflow 240Hz in one of its active settings, Sony will add nine interpolated to each frame of a true 1080p/24 source to take the refresh rate of up to 240 Hz. If the source is either 1080p/60 (or 30 fps interlaced, deinterlaced all setup ,and, if necessary, upconverted to 1080p/60), The Sony will add three interpolated frames to achieve the magic 240.When the Motionflow switch - off, the picture still needs more extra frames, but they repeated their instead interpolation them.
Motionflow 240Hz works as advertised. The film-base material, it seems to interact with the CineMotion control. Its effect is more noticeable if you set it on Auto 1. The video-based, Cinemotion neither helped nor diminished Motionflow 240Hz operation. However, as in other similar setup, Motionflow 240Hz has unfortunate side effect of making films based source look like video. If you like Lord of the Rings “ The Days of Our Lives of Middle Earth”, it could be this way. not me, so I turned off Motionflow 240Hz for all tests and my screen (default is committed outside the box).
The video controls can be set separately for each item, including checks of the white balance. There is no copy function, so if you want to use the same settings for more than one item, you must manually transfer them. No other video services that we tested, namely YouTube and Amazon Video On Demand, showed unusual problems with video quality. Minor video services abound on the NX800, including Sports Illustrated (not sports - any movie clip swimsuit model, when we checked), the Minisode Network, blip.tv, style.com, howcast.com and Many video podcasts. Besides Amazon VOD, the picture quality of other video services is generally poor, believe that non-HD content on YouTube. This is probably because most of their content is designed for the web. Free videos from CBS to provide quality generally good, but do not expect anything near the quality of TV.com, the official web portal of the network for full TV episodes. Instead, there is a hodgepodge of clips and full episodes rare. We know that Sony has added a keyword search in minor services, but it would be much more useful if the search included all video services, including YouTube, Amazon, Netflix, and - while we - even the TV Guide EPG information.

sonylcdhdtvreview.blogspot.kdl52NX.4

Although modest mitigation HD chroma highest test frequency, the resolution of subjective Sony has been excellent. I could easily make the difference in sharpness between a single show Blu-ray Disc and beautiful one. The HD video quality on average from the invention of the Lying was clear from the outset. When I popped in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, I saw how cool this series can look with exceptional video transfer. The Sony on occasion look at oversharp shadow (with the Sharpness control to zero), but this occurred only a few separate scenes. I have not seen any evidence of sharpness from test pattern discs . The set just seemed to serve as sources as they were.

Black level : Compared to other series in our ranks, Sony gave the NX800 a shade a bit ighter shade of dark after calibration, with the exception of LG SL90, which was much worse in general. In scenes dark as when Mark Whitacre called Shepard lot of Econo Lodge parking in Chapter 10, or the night sky at the beginning of Chapter 17, and the black shadows on XBR9 and B7000 have been a little darker than on NX800. In addition, as expected, the overall local dimming control and plasma Pioneer has also had darker black levels. The Sony seems a bit more natural when you look at the details because the XBR9 details, however, was not much better (and in some cases worse) than any other series.

Conclusions

sonylcdhdtvreview.blogspot.kdl52NX.5

The uneven level of black Sony is a kind of fly in a pot also very tasty. You will not see often. Some of you may not see at all, especially if you do not have many observations in a dark room. But, as with another set of edge-lit that we tested, it’s our enthusiasm tempered a set of this price range. However, the material sources, the Sony Bravia KDL-52NX800, properly configured, produces a wonderful, rich colors and natural, excellent resolution, video processing respectable, and the contrast is almost always impressive.

Introduction

The Sony KDL-EX700 LCD HDTV series is the second edge-lit LED-based LCD from Sony, which we tested this year. If you read the review KDL-NX800, you see more similarities than differences between the two. The price difference - $ 400 models from 46 inches between the two series - you get a better style,Wi-Fi network, and a few other minor improvements on the NX800 series, but for some reason you lose the innovatory ' Sensor presence '.  that the Sensor presence is display turn off automatically deactivated when you leave the room, and you can use very low power, if one is inclined to leave the television. Even without the sensor, the EX700 few sips power as any TV we've tested - although we expect that other LED models we review this year show similar results.
consumers a detailed comparison may be surprised to learn both Sony's have almost the same quality. The main difference is that the performance-related EX700 has a matte screen, while the NX800 external monolithic apparently calls for more gloss - in a bright room, we preferred the matte finish. The image of the EX700 will not wow anyone looking for a home entertainment center, but the KDL-EX700 series has cheap price than his brothers practice more expensive for buyers who want more Internet video and superb efficiency.
Note Series: We conducted a practical assessment of 46-inch Sony KDL-46EX700, but his advice applies to other dimensions of the series: the 32-inch KDL-32EX700, 40-inch KDL-40EX700 the 52-inch and 60 inch KDL 52EX700 KDL-60EX700. All sizes share the same specifications, they must provide a very similar image quality.

Design

Sony has applied the philosophy of "step-up” when he designed the exterior of the KDL-EX700 and more expensive NX800. While it is the so-called monolithic closely high integrated with a single pane of glass, a narrow space between support and the panel and uninterrupted swath of black gloss - the EX700 seems more traditional. The KDL-EX700 series has screen and frame are clearly separated, this glossy black on three sides and brushed black gray stripe on the bottom without major interruption. As I liked the design of the NX800 better, EX700 design is nice as well. The KDL-EX700 is gloss black stand swivels, but not have tilt-back like NX800, and back side of the TV is opaque and exhibited – not seem the glossy, panel-concealed backside of NX800 series,. The two groups share the same slim, its jagged profile which is 2 5 / 8 inches deep at the widest.

We also liked the remote 52EX700, Although the clicker Slicker NX800's better. The EX700 lose the remote controls, bountifully of plastic key that the NX800 is in favor of standard of rubber, but also the loss of backlight, and you can not control other gear with it via a infrared. However, the button on the remote is excellent accommodation botton and nice concave shape to remain intact, as is the strange power button on the back of the remote and the surreptitious sliding battery compartment.
Sony has not reached its menu system on the KDL-EX700 series, and is generally a good thing. The XMB interface, inspired by the game console company, doing a good job of many new Internet TV services, inputs and various doo-dads and arrangement their logical style. Although we would like to see more customization options and less confusing (how about the ability to "hide" undesirable or even interactive services throughout the vertical, as the TV channels ,which is useless for cable box) , The smart guide -the best we've seen on any TV, and remember the PS3 - is makes up for long.
We also appreciate that Sony has included ways to avoid having to navigate through the XMB high, led by the keys of remote direct-access to a favorite section that recalls entries often-accessed input - you can also add items manually, as Netflix - the context sensitive options section with quick access to scene modes, Motionflow settings and Netflix options.

Features

Sony uses the same kind of system of edge-lit LED device to illuminate the screen of the KDL-EX700 series as many other manufacturers of television are use this year. A part of its thinness, another great advantage of eliminating the traditional CCFL backlight in favor of LEDs has improved energy efficiency. On the other hand, the choice of an edge-lit scheme as opposed true local dimming, as found in the series of high-end Sony XBR-HX800, usually leads to compromise quality.

Internet feature : NX800 and EX700 share most features of the Internet itself, with the notable exception is the second missing the Yahoo Widgets and Wi-Fi available on NX800.
In 2009, Sony has offered other services connected to the Internet than any other manufacturer of television, once updated their compatible TV to include Netflix, but in 2010 did not add anything new until this, such as Skype announced by Panasonic and LG, or "Apps" platform touted by Samsung and Vizio. What will change in coming weeks as the company launches QRIOCITY (pronounced "curiosity"), an online film on which the details are still scarce.
Netflix is the main draw on the EX700 LCD HDTV series, but according to our tests, fell significantly behind video quality we've seen other devices Netflix - so basically the same as the NX800 did. We compared the scenes of "Lost," one of the most beautiful stream Netflix titles in the library, and both of Sony televisions seemed just as soft, more pixilation and articles stating than the “Roku player”or LG 47LH50 we used for comparison did. It was as if Sony was Netflix streaming video at low bit rate, we could not confirm that since, unlike most devices Netflix interface, Sony gives no indication that the quality streaming can be expected.

Picture-affecting features : Sony has also removed the NX800 features a 240Hz refresh rate from the EX700 series, leaving it 120Hz instead- although I do not think you miss the extra Hz. More importantly, unlike Samsung and development work of Toshiba is not possible to obtain the benefits of reducing blur, which is certainly very difficult to discern, without involving the dejudder processing. The latter, which Sony calls Motionflow is available in two strengths, and fortunately, you can also turn it off.
The KDL-EX700 series provides a welcome opportunity to apply the settings to the current input only, or globally to all inputs. The choice of works to one of three standard picture modes, Custom, Vivid or Standard, which could potentially have three different sets of picture settings for each input. There are also seven different scene modes, such as Game, movies and PC, which unfortunately are not accessible from the main picture menu, and you can also apply settings to each of them is the current entry or all inputs. The result is relatively unclear, although vacillation of customizable, arrange of settings. We are willing to bet that people at the heart of different settings for each input situation will be very well with complexity. To make things easier by pressing the button on the remote Theatre Cinema undertakes the scene.

Other Features : Another major difference between the EX700 and the NX800 is the inclusion of the same old type of presence-sensor "Included in the Series of KDL-VE5, which can be set to temporarily disable the image if you leave the room, a significant saving of energy. If the sensor fails to detect motion, after a certain period of time - you have a choice of five-minute intervals of 5-60 minutes, plus a  5 seconds, "demo" mode - the image is dark while the sound is turned on, and consumption of the TV is reduced to about 26 watts (less than one third of the image default on the energy consumption). If the sensor detects movement again in 30 minutes, the TV turns on again. Otherwise, it closes itself off completely, cutting its energy consumption down to near zero watts.

In our tests, the system worked as advertised. We liked that "television is about to turn off" warning message appears before the automatic shutdown, and that simply moving an arm or head is usually used to reset the timer, and maintain the image warning as we can seen (“gesture control”action). Not once in a week or the intermittent test did EX700 turn-off as we sat looking forward, even in the most sensitive to 5 minutes.
Other features of the energy savings are more typical. A two-step power saving option on the ECO menu that label limited peak brightness and really cut down energy consumption. Sony also includes a manual mode to turn off the screen while leaving the sound, and another mode that automatically turns off the TV after you can not press a key or otherwise interact with television. New for 2010, you can choose to turn off the TV completely with one side of the switch, which eliminates standby draw (which is anyway negligible, then the step), and also choose whether the TV is "awake" to download updates automatically. In short, the EX700 has characteristics more energy-aware feature than all the television we've tested.

Performance

Both 2010 Sony edge-lit LED-based LCD application that we tested, the EX700 and NX800, offering a very similar image quality. Both are characterized by medium-performance LCD black level and color accuracy solid, with the except the dark blue color - especially as the EX700 than on the HX800. The differences, namely consistency and superior performance bright room of the KDL-EX700 , and NX800 has better shadow detail and motion resolution, are not sufficient to cause a difference in ranking for that category, both scored a 6.

Black level : The black tones produced by the KDL-EX700 has been relatively low in our programming, and has not, to a greater or lesser degree, other screens apart of outliers SL90 LG, which has gone wrong. Sometimes, the EX700 has rander a deeper darker than the NX800, especially in lower letterbox menu, but in most other areas the two delivered similar black levels. Compared to KDL-XBR9 and Samsung UNB7000, the EX700 seems little light, while its separation from the other screen was proportionately much larger.
The differences are most visible in darker scenes, as the rain-spattered night in Chapter 12, where the EX700 deliver of black umbrellas and clothing of the ninja and Lord Ozunu that bars letterbox was mediocre and typical standard LCD. Shadow detail was slightly worse than the NX800 and the other displays outside the KDL-XBR9, however, with sectors such as the mantle edge of the umbrella and the folds in the jacket of the teacher seems a little more darkende on the EX700.

Video Processing : The Sony KDL-EX700 does not much processing dejudder twist, providing only Off, Standard, High and options for its control Motionflow. As we expected, we preferred the look to off good appearance with film-based sources like most Blu-ray flim, which seems too smooth and video-like in the other two control. However, we preferred the Sony’s lowest dejudder option , Standard, to equivalent modes of Samsung and LG, why not introduce more smoothing and delivered a less video-like look.
A good example of why it came in Chapter 5, the camera follows the trail during a training session of Raiz, LG and Samsung seemed too smooth, with less of a deep sense of Plans camera, while Sony kept preserved some that feel. Of course, all Samsung can set smoothness, as you like, which in our book is the best way to handle video processing, for example.
